Best Thing I Ate This Week: Tres Leches Cake, Famous Shrimp Pasta and Foie Gras Macaron
Wondering where a food writer eats? I am happy to tell you!
Every other week, I share a few of my favorite bites at Memphis-area restaurants.
Here are three of the best things I ate this past week. Each is from a new eatery that opened in October.
Lily’s Bakery & Catering: Tres Leches Cake
4000 Summer Ave., Suite 106; instagram.com/lilysbakerymemphis
First up, Lily’s Bakery & Catering on Summer Avenue. This new shop is Latin- and Middle Eastern-owned and features freshly baked pastries and savory snacks.
The Tres Leches cake is not to be missed. It comes in flavors like Dulce de Leche caramel and strawberry.
David Grisanti’s on Main: Elfo's Special
148 N. Main St., Collierville; davidgrisanti.com
Next, David Grisanti’s on Main. David Grisanti has moved his Collierville restaurant to a new location just off the historic Town Square.
The menu features all the Grisanti family classics, including my favorite — the Elfo’s Special shrimp and mushroom pasta dish.
Amelia Gene’s
255 S. Front St.; ameliagenes.com
Finally, a trip to the new Amelia Gene’s fine dining restaurant in Downtown Memphis. The historic Ellis & Sons Machine Shop has been transformed into one of the most stunning restaurants in town.
The “Proper Bites” starters are a must order. The Foie Gras Macaron and the Golden Potato Fondue are divine.
