Best Thing I Ate This Week: Baked Oysters, A Crab Salad and Steamed Shrimp
Wondering where a food writer eats? I am happy to tell you!
Each week, I share a few of my favorite bites at Memphis-area restaurants.
This week, I took a little different route since I was on vacation in Florida's 30A Panhandle.
Two of my favorite restaurants in the 30A area are owned by Memphis-based Spell Restaurant Group. Spell Restaurant Group owns such eateries in Memphis as Brookhaven Pub & Grill and Babalu.
I know many Memphians vacation in that part of Florida, so I thought you might enjoy these recommendations for your next trip to the beach.
Here are three of the best things I ate this past week — "beach edition."
Edward's: Shrimp Baked Oysters
Edward’s in Rosemary Beach (66 Main St, Rosemary Beach, Florida) is always a favorite dinner spot. Start with the Shrimp Baked Oysters.
George's at Alys Beach: #1 Sesame Crab and Avocado Salad
Next up, lunch at George’s at Alys Beach (30 Castle Harbour Drive, Alys Beach, Florida) , which is also owned by the Spell family. I always get the #1 Sesame Crab and Avocado Salad. It is loaded with fresh jumbo lump crab meat.
Goatfeathers Seafood Market: Steamed Shrimp
But one of my favorite beach meals can be enjoyed at any beach — steamed shrimp and cocktails on the beach at sunset. Seafood markets at most beaches offer fresh steamed shrimp, spiced or plain. When in the 30A area, I go to Goatfeathers Seafood Market (Two locations in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida: 3865 W. Co. Hwy. 30A and 4042 W. Co. Hwy. 30A) for seafood.
