Transplant has a double-meaning, telling the story of a surgeon who does literal transplants named Bashir Hamed. Bashir has arrived in Canada to work in emergency medicine after leaving his home in war-stricken Syria, making him a “transplant” himself. He also has to essentially start his medical education over, beginning a residency in Toronto's best hospital. It's not an easy transition, but it is a compelling one to watch.
