It looks like it's classics time on Netflix. With every passing month, there's a new slate of movies that gets introduced to the streaming platform. It just so happens that this month is stacked with classics of all types: comedy, war drama, horror, and a little musical kick in there for you, too. Not your speed? That's fine. There's also a solid modern comedy choice in 50/50, along with the Batman movie that changed everything. Variety is the spice of life.

Below, find our six stand outs for June's new additions to Netflix.

50/50 (June 1)

This is low key Seth Rogen’s best movie to date. Starring Joseph Gordon Levitt and based on a true story, a man is given some harrowing odds after a cancer diagnosis: 50/50. What follows is a bittersweet comedy about what happens when the world around you feels like it’s falling apart.

Batman Begins (June 1)

Ah, the Christian Bale era. Dropping on June 1, Batman Begins follows Bruce Wayne as he trains alongside Henri Ducard. That gets complicated though when Batman realizes that the group training him is set on destroying Gotham City. Awkward. Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman round out the cast in arguably Batman’s best era to date.

Cabaret (June 1)

Cabaret is the musical that you didn’t know you needed in your Netflix queue. Berlin in 1931 doesn’t seem like the most alluring setting for a musical, but the Liza Minelli film about an American cabaret singer in a bisexual love triangle as the rise of the Nazis plays out in the background is a treat… and maybe also a headline from 2019?

Carrie (June 1)

Carrie is the one movie every high school bully should be forced to watch. Intended as a horror movie (and it is! mostly!) the Stephen King story starring Sissy Spacek leans a bit into the camp, but it's iconic. This girl with superpowers gets a bucket of blood dumped on her for the last time dammit. Also, keep an eye out for the blink and you miss it drop in by John Travolta.

Network (June 1)

Network has been recognized as one of the all time greats. Not only did the satirical film about a fictional struggling news station get nominated for 10 Academy Award, it nabbed four of them (with three in the acting categories). If anything, Network predicted a bit of our reality, with the fictional network discovering that a bit of sensationalized antics on air draws a massive audience.

Platoon (June 1)

Another classic. you wouldn’t think that Charlie Sheen could carry a drama so well, but Platoon is proof. Following a soldier who enlists to fight in Vietnam, he’s a bit disenfranchised with his romantic idea of defending his country once he’s out in the midst of it all. The reality of being among a war that divided Americans comes to life in the 1986 Best Picture winner.
