The critically-acclaimed film aims to "restore its history," considering the massive fête hosted legendary performers such as Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone and Mahalia Jackson, among others, over six Sundays that summer — but was widely overshadowed in the news by Woodstock, which was happening about 100 miles away on one overlapping weekend.
