The Best Looks on the Emmys Virtual Red Carpet, From PJs to Pumps

The usual red carpet at the 72nd Emmy Awards is very different, but stars are still putting their best fits forward for this year’s virtual event, whether they are dressed up or down.

Jameela Jamil opted for casual chic, wearing a rainbow sequined robe from Markarian NYC over an all-white pajama set. “No bra? No heels? NO PROBLEM,” Jamil wrote in an Instagram post featuring the outfit. “Wearing PJ’s to the 72nd Emmy awards (from my house) is my kind of vibes.” Jamil plays Tahani Al-Jamil on NBC’s “The Good Place,” which is up for seven awards tonight.

“Euphoria” star Zendaya, on the other hand, who is nominated for outstanding lead actress in a drama series, didn’t let the show’s virtual nature stop her from dressing to the nines. She wore a beautiful black and purple gown by designer Christopher John Rogers, complete with jewelry from Bvlgari. Rogers shared a video of Zendaya showing off his dress.

“Hollywood” actor Jeremy Pope also came to impress with his Emmys look: a patchwork suit in varying shades of brown. In addition to sharing a solo shot of himself, Pope tweeted out a photo with his date, who was none other than his mom.

Daniel Levy, whose show “Schitt’s Creek” is nominated for a total of 15 awards, looked sharp in a gray jacket and skirt from Thom Browne and this season’s ultimate accessory: a mask. The fan account @danlevystyle shared a photo of Levy’s full outfit.

“The Morning Show” star Jennifer Aniston was the epitome of comfort in her pre-Emmys outfit, which consisted of grey pajamas, a face mask and a glass of champagne. “Emmys prep… in my other mask,” Aniston wrote in her Instagram post. Aniston later presented the first award of the night in a simple yet stunning black gown.

Mark Duplass mixed fancy and casual by adding a tuxedo jacket over a flannel pajama shirt. “Tonight’s look brought to you by old ass tux jacket from ‘Cyrus’ awards season and Target’s limited Clark Griswold Christmas Jammies collection,” Duplass captioned an Instagram selfie.

Tituss Burgess looked red-hot in a cherry-colored, athleisure-inspired matching set from the Lee Rickie Collection with shoes by Giuseppe Zanotti. In his post, the “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” star teased that he also has a second look on deck.

Dylan McDermott, nominated for outsanding supporting actor in a limited series for”Hollywood,” posed for a pic with his pup, who sported a matching bowtie to McDermott’s blue suit. “Almost Emmy time!” McDermott wrote.

Regina King, who is nominated for her performance in “Watchmen,” posted a creative video to show off her blue off-the-shoulder dress from Schiaparelli Couture by Daniel Roseberry. She also made a statement by sporting a t-shirt honoring Breonna Taylor during the ceremony.

Tracee Ellis Ross looked like a living Emmy award in a gold Alexandre Vauthier gown and Jimmy Choo heels to match. “How fun to get dressed up! Can’t say I miss the frenetic energy of the red carpet or wearing high heels, but boy do I miss a pretty dress!” Ross wrote on Instagram.

Kerry Washington showed off a smoky eye look and blue ruffled shirt in a post to social media, writing: “Things look a little different this year but the gratitude remains the same.” Later on, she changed into two different dresses, including a strapless gown with a flower pattern and a sequined cheetah print dress adorned with beads.

Washington’s “Little Fires Everywhere” co-star, Reese Witherspoon, went for a classic look in a black dress with bow accents. Blue jewelry, a red lip and a glass of champagne completed the outfit.

Breakout star Paul Mescal, who is nominated for outstanding lead actor in a limited series for “Normal People,” posted a snap in a Louis Vuitton suit. “This is nuts,” Mescal wrote. “I am wearing Louis Vuitton on my stairs for the Emmys!”

Mark Ruffalo shared a selfie with his wife Sunrise Coigney, in which he tops off a suit with a baseball cap.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II kept it classy in a white and black-striped suit, even from his couch. He later took home the Emmy award for best supporting actor in a limited series for his work in “Watchmen.”

Sterling K. Brown paired a suit jacket with a t-shirt and Bvlgari watch for a downplayed, dapper outfit.

H.E.R., who delivered the in memoriam performance during the awards show, wore a custom fuchsia Vera Wang dress.

“Black-ish” and “Grown-ish” star Yara Shahidi showed off a custom Prada gown decorated with beads and feathers. She kept her caption simple: “See something // Say something.”
