The Poodle Room Debuts at Fontainebleau Las Vegas

Fifi the poodle - Poodle Room - Fontainebleau Las Vegas
The Poodle Room will grab the spotlight at Fontainebleau Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve with its invite-only launch.

The Hollywood Reporter exclusively reveals that Fontainebleau Las Vegas will preview the Poodle Room, a members-only lifestyle and social club atop its 67-story hotel tower on Dec. 31. This will be the first time anyone has seen the Strip from this vantage point as the Fontainebleau is the tallest occupiable building in Nevada. The invite-only A-list first-look pays homage to the original Poodle Room, with its prancing poodle logo on cocktail napkins and swizzle sticks, that served as a celebrity and socialite hangout at the original South Beach resort when it opened in 1954. Expect a mid-century maximal design by Rockwell Group, opulent florals from Jeff Leatham, bars serving cocktails in Baccarat glassware, an omakase sushi experience (which will be open to the public), a cigar room, a conservatory bathed in natural light and as the name suggests, poodle iconography everywhere. Josephine the Poodle is also the Fontainebleau Las Vegas mascot.

While details of the membership remain closely guarded, the application is up and Fontainebleau development president Brett Mufson teases that, “For our members, Poodle Room offers a sense of ownership in an exclusive community where they will want for nothing and enjoy the exceptional service and hospitality that has set Fontainebleau apart.”

Who Is Performing in Las Vegas for New Year’s Eve 2023?

According to Expedia’s 2024 Travel Trends, traveling to see concerts or tour tourism is one of the deciding factors as to why people visit a city — in Las Vegas’ case, for the residencies that fill the theaters year-round. Citing the cultural impact of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour and Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour, Expedia’s survey found that nearly 70 percent of survey respondents say they are more likely to travel to a concert. With 300,000 to 400,000 people descending on the Strip for New Year’s Eve, a large number of them will be packing the shows with entertainment as a top driver.

Here are the best concerts and parties in Las Vegas during New Year’s weekend, from Post Malone at the new Fontainebleau hotel’s BleauLive Theater to Christina Aguilera and Kelly Clarkson.

In June, the 10-time Grammy nominee received the Songwriters Hall of Fame “Hal Davis Starlight Award.” The theater features a large GA floor, the best place for a dance-party vibe when Justin Timberlake took the venue for a test spin at the resort’s invite-only opening. VIP sections have lounge seating with couches and bottle service. On Dec. 30, he will head over to the all-new Liv Nightclub at Fontainebleau to keep the party going after the concert.

Chéri beneath the Eiffel Tower is a new addition to Vegas’ cocktail scene.

Where Chéri at Paris Las Vegas,3655 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89109; (702) 776-7777
Pricing $800-$3,500 for 2-8 guests, approximately $3,000-$25,000 for table service

New at Paris Las Vegas and located in one of the most prime locations on the Strip, the 9,000 square-foot Chéri rooftop garden cocktail bar, tucked beneath the Eiffel Tower, offers VIP table packages for New Year’s Eve. (Even though it is outdoors, the space is heated.) The party gets started at 8 p.m. with a DJ and a dance floor and four tiers of experiences for New Year’s Eve, priced from $800 to $3,500 for two to eight guests, including bottle service and champagne. Approachable glamour is what Chéri prides itself on, according to sports agent and JRS Hospitality ceo Perry Rogers, which operates the venue. Rogers, who is a Las Vegas native wants people to have a Sin City experience they won’t regret in 45 days when they get their credit card bill. Table service at nightclubs on Strip range from $3,000 to $25,000.

“The idea is let’s make sure we get as many people as possible up here for this unobstructed view of the Strip and Bellagio Fountains,” he says. “We’re not a nightclub. I think Las Vegas, historically, was the promise of a great time without having to spend a lot of money — and we’ve gotten away from that. As the nightclub world started to move into Las Vegas, then came the cover charges and massive bills for tables.” On regular nights, Chéri doesn’t charge a cover nor require bottle service, a rarity in town. “You have one of the best views in the world and people don’t have their hand in your pocket,” Rogers adds. Chéri, decked out in Parisian ambience with sparkling chandeliers, garden landscaping, an antique spiral staircase and tufted lounge seating, sits atop Beer Park and Alexxa’s, which combined attract more than 4,000 guests per day.

Mother Wolf - Fontainebleau Las Vegas
Mother Wolf in Las Vegas

Where Mother Wolf at Fontainebleau, 2777 S Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas NV 89109; (833) 702-7272
Pricing $175 for prix-fixe from 5:30-7 p.m. and 7:30-9 p.m., $200 for prix-fixe from 9:30 to 11 p.m.

LA’s Mother Wolf is now open at Fontainebleau Las Vegas and will feature three seatings on New Year’s Eve: 5:30 to 7 p.m. (prix-fixe starting at $175); 7:30 to 9 p.m. (prix-fixe starting at $175); and 9:30 to 11 p.m. (prix-fixe starting at $200). The Roman garden-inspired dining room was designed by Martin Brudzinski, just like the original. (He is also working on the Miami Design-district version.) This location marks Chef Evan Funke’s debut on the Las Vegas Strip, and his first outside of California, where he has three restaurants: Funke in Beverly Hills, Felix in Venice, and Mother Wolf in Hollywood. Dan Daley, Ten Five Hospitality principal, shares with The Hollywood Reporter that the 10,000 square-foot Vegas iteration is about 20 percent larger, and the menu is about 25 percent different, than L.A. with the addition of a section called Cose di Lusso, which means luxurious things. These include: burrata and caviar, fettuccine with white truffles and prosciutto and white or black truffle chicken. “There is a bit more spectacle in Vegas,” he says. “There’s so many other great restauranteurs in the building and we felt this was a good space for us. It’s also very unique because of the exhibition kitchen, which is 75 feet.” The private dining room with its window into the kitchen pays homage to Jonathan Waxman’s New York City institution Barbuto. “One of the propositions of Mother Wolf is the connection between guests and kitchen.” Daley feels the overall design with its fresh and feminine vibe is a departure from the dark masculine tone of many Las Vegas restaurants.  “We wanted to go in the opposite direction,” he says. “We want to offer different sensory components to the overall experience from our playlists through our service to the cuisine. It is approachable. It’s not over your head. When you think about restaurants with world-class cuisine, they are artisanal and small; and then you have restaurants that are much more about the scene and the vibe. We wanted to merge those two things. Why can’t we have world-class cuisine and service in a space that has an energy and soul? That’s what we’re trying to accomplish on a nightly basis.”
