This film shows a Chicago playwright, Richard Collier, using self-hypnosis to meet Elise McKenna, a famous American actress of the 1900s, after being mesmerized by her portrait hanging in a hotel. With his technique, the playwright goes back in time to meet the actress and fulfill his fantasy.

Two teenagers, Bill and Ted, are best friends and struggle to finish a history assignment. However, with the help of a man from the future, the two are finally able to complete their assignment with ease.
