Grace and Frankie

The leading ladies, the title heroines, Jane Fonda's straight man to Lily Tomlin's new age wacky persona. From finding out that both their closeted husbands were having an affair to begrudgingly moving in together, Grace and Frankie represented elderly women in a human and vulnerable light.

Together, their storylines touched upon mortality, elderly romance, dementia, and self-fulfillment. Before, these storylines were mostly non-existent for women their age. "Grace and Frankie" filled a void missing in television and film, reminding the world that women don't just fall off the earth after 40.

Robert and Sol

The original conflict of the show would not live without Robert and Sol, the closeted cheating husbands that fell in love. Played by Martin Sheen and Sam Waterson, it shows the reality of gay men coming out late and finding a community to support them.

Moreover, their journey touches upon similar arcs as Grace and Frankie, except they also have to navigate in the modernity of LGBTQ+ life. Retirement, strokes, threesomes, and local theatre are only some of their craziest moments.

Brianna and Barry

Brianna and Barry are an odd couple, her being a powerful CEO with an intimidating presence, while he's a sweet and adoring accountant working under her. Played by June Diane Raphael and Peter Cambor, the two enter a love story Brianna is hesitant to accept.

Through growth and communication, Brianna learns to trust a good man after years of defaulting her emotions as a weakness. Barry, in return, constantly supports her and is never threatened by her success and towering rank.

Coyote and Bud

Coyote and Bud are adopted siblings of Sol and Frankie, and their bond is thicker than blood. Played by Ethan Embry and Baron Vaughn, the two go through their parents' late-age divorce while dealing with their own personal problems.

Coyote's main problem being his drug addiction and Bud's problem being the savior for everyone without giving himself a break. Both are polar opposites in personality, yet they always get through the worst parts of life together. Confidantes and brothers, these two are a powerful pair.
