Bernie Sanders Does Not Regret ‘Unqualified’ Clinton Comment

Bernie Sanders made a last minute visit to Late Night With Seth Meyers on Thursday, where he discussed a recent beef he’s had with Hillary Clinton. Sanders recently accused Clinton of being unqualified to be president, which he defended by saying, “It was said after she and her campaign said that I was unqualified.”

Meyers pointed out that Clinton didn’t specifically say that Sanders wasn’t unqualified, she just didn’t take the opportunity to say that he was qualified. And while Sanders is usually all smiles on the late night talk show circuit, he was rather stern when he told Meyers, “If people attack me and distort my record, we will respond.”

Sanders spent the rest of the interview discussing his campaign’s strengths while dismissing Clinton’s. And while there is hope for his team that he can win the election, “In the last CNN poll, we were 20 points ahead of Donald Trump and that is a higher margin than Hillary Clinton,” said Sanders, adding, “That is true in almost all polls, we do better against Republicans.”

It may be that the Sanders campaign is just as political as all the other campaigns it claims to be above.

Late Night With Seth Meyers airs weeknights at 12:35 a.m. on NBC.
