Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ariana Grande Have Progressive Dance Party on Twitter

When Ariana Grande asked Twitter, “baby how u feeling,” she was just promoting her new collab with Lizzo, not necessarily opening up a political forum.

Still, progressive icons Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez saw the opportunity to advance a few causes and get a few retweets and they took it.

“Ready to fight for Medicare for All,” replied Sanders to Grande’s tweet, which featured lyrics from her just-released remix of Lizzo’s “Good As Hell.” Grande, who famously uses her social media accounts to interact directly with fans, favorited the response from the presidential hopeful.

Ocasio-Cortez, who just endorsed Sanders’ presidential bid last weekend, quote-tweeted him, suggesting which of Grande’s hits would work as anthems for particular progressive policies. She assigned “thank u, next” to replacing for-profit health insurance and “Be Alright” to passing the New Green Deal.

To that, Grande responded, “screaming screaming.” She also favorited the tweet.

One fan commented they never expected to see their favorite artist and politician communicating on Twitter, prompting Grande to write, “my heart.”

If you think all this is trivial, you just keep it in mind next time there’s a horrible Friday afternoon news dump. For now, go forth into the weekend feeling good as hell.
