Berlin: Dominic Sena Boards ‘Johnny Two-Guns’ with Green-Light (EXCLUSIVE)

Dominic Sena, whose credits include “Gone in Sixty Seconds” and “Swordfish,” will direct the action-drama “Johnny Two-Guns,” Variety has learned exclusively.

Green-Light International is fully financing and launching worldwide sales at the Berlin Film Festival with the aim of beginning production this year. GLI, which launched at the American Film Market, is headed by Christian de Gallegos, Jeff Elliott and Chad Moore.

“Johnny Two-Guns” is written by Dito Montiel (“A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints”), Allan Ungar and and Chad Law. Oriah Entertainment will co-produce the movie, which centers around war veteran and sharpshooter Johnny “Two-Guns” Trale after he returns home from Afghanistan to find that his wife and daughter have vanished without a trace — forcing him to take a job as an enforcer for a corrupt music mogul in an effort to fund his search efforts to find his family.

GLI is also launching sales at Berlin on John McTiernan’s action-thriller “Thin Rain.” He will direct from a script by Philip Shaw and Jeremy Sheldon in a story following a former American mercenary throughout Asia on a quest for redemption.

Joe Simpson will produce for Miscellaneous Entertainment. Andrew Mann, Simon Fawcett and GLI will exec produce.

McTiernan’s credits include “Die Hard,” “The Hunt for Red October” and “The Thomas Crowne Affair.” He was released in early 2014 after serving nearly a year in a minimum security federal prison for his role in the Anthony Pellicano wiretapping scandal.

GLI also boarded sales on the action comedy project “Big Sexy,” directed by animation director Tim Hill (“Alvin and the chipmunks”), and plans to fully finance. The movie is the story of a womanizing private detective setting out to clear his innocent son’s name after he is framed for a drug crime.

GLI will executive produce with Andrew Mann. Susanne Bohnet of Serafini Pictures is producing.

GLI launched at AFM with “Imperium,” starring Daniel Radcliffe as an FBI agent who goes undercover and joins a white supremacist group in order to expose a terrorist plot; and “Custody,” from writer/director James Lapine and starring Emmy winner Viola Davis, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Hayden Panettiere and Ellen Burstyn.

Sena is repped by WME. McTiernan is repped by Paradigm, Mardigian Management, and Ziffren Brittenham. Hill is repped by Verve and Principato-Young. GLI is repped legally by Joseph Lanius.
