—Ringgold Band picnic and concert, Hill Church Picnic Grove, 620 Hill Church Road, Pike Township, 3:30-8 p.m. Food available 3:30 until closing, sit-down service until 7, hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries, soup, ice cream, rain or shine music 5-8, door prizes during the concert.

Aug. 6:

—Leesport Area Historical Society Museum open house, 128 Main St., Leesport, 1-4 p.m. Visit the 1858 schoolhouse that served the community until 1961. Tour includes classroom circa 1940/50s and museum room, including a rare printing press and Quaker marriage certificate dating 1757. Current exhibit features local advertising signage.

Aug. 7:

Aug. 8:

—"The Magic of Mushrooms" presentation hosted by the Wyomissing Area Garden Club, Wyomissing Public Library, 9 Reading Blvd., Wyomissing, 1 p.m. Speaker Tori Cieslak is a self-taught amateur mycologist with a lifelong interest in nature while living most of her life right here in Berks County. What are mushrooms? How can you find and grow them? Just why are mushrooms so awesome? These are a few of the topics that will be covered. Free and open to all with no registration needed.

Aug. 12:

—25-cent sale and flea market, Calvary United Church of Christ, 1231 Route 100, Washington Township, 8-11 a.m. Clothing, shoes, household items, books and more.

—Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue open house, Golden Gateway facility, 60 Vera Cruz Road, East Cocalico Township, 10 a.m.-noon. Meet and greet the golden retrievers and dogs that are available for adoption. Staff is on hand to answer all questions, and food is available for purchase. No admission charge. No photos. —Old Time Plow Boys Club Summer Show, 4585 Werleys Corner Road, Weisenberg Township, Lehigh County, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Free. Antique engines, tractors, wagon rides, demonstrations.

Aug. 13:

—Strausstown Fire Company breakfast, Strausstown Community Campus, 50 East Ave., Strausstown, 7:30-11:30 a.m. A full breakfast menu will be available. Proceeds benefit the apparatus fund.

Aug. 14:

—Tulpehocken Settlement Historical Society membership meeting, 116 N. Front St., Womelsdorf, 7:30 p.m. Speaker Paul Miller will present "All Aboard! The Lebanon Valley Railroad." Free. Parking at the back of the building.

Aug. 19:

—Peach festival, St. Paul's United Church of Christ Amityville, 1979 Weavertown Road, Amity Township, 3-8 p.m.

—Back-to-school outreach event, Calvary United Church of Christ, 1231 Route 100, Washington Township, 9 a.m.-1 p..m. Free live music from Threefold Blessing, Keystone Ghostbusters, Just-Farm-Kids Tractor Club, Touch-a-Truck, face painting, petting zoo, pony rides, bounce house, refreshments, school supplies, clothing, shoes, housewares, books and more, all free.

—Pig roast and hoedown, Huff's Union Church, 540 Conrad Road, Hereford Township. Meal includes a pulled pork sandwich, ear of corn, coleslaw, a drink and dessert. Cost is $12, available from 4-7 p.m., eat in or take out. Keith Brintzenhoff will call the hoedown under the band pavilion from 6-8 p.m. Call 610-845-2626 to buy tickets. Tickets will also be available at the event.

—Historic Preservation Trust of Berks County presents a talk about Pennsylvania German gravestones, White Horse Inn, 31 Old Philadelphia Pike, Amity Township, 11 a.m. Michael Emery, Cornwall Iron Furnace site administrator, will have a PowerPoint presentation on tombstones, mainly located in Lancaster, Berks and Lebanon counties, from historical and architectural viewpoints. Suggested donation $2 per person. Proceeds benefit the trust.

Aug. 26:

—Farm Festival, Dreibelbis Historic Farm, 356 Hard Hill Road, Richmond Township, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., featuring farm crafts, Native American displays, hayrides, music and old-time games. Food available. Free admission and $3 parking. The un-remodeled 1860s farmhouse is a living reminder of Berks County rural life. An entrance fee will be charged for tours of the main house.

Sept. 9:

—Community day and car show, Keystone Villa at Douglassville, 1152 and 1180 Ben Franklin Highway, Amity Township, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Raffles, food trucks, music, games, petting zoo. Sept. 16:

—Historic Preservation Trust of Berks County presents basket weavers of the Oley Valley, White Horse Inn, 31 Old Philadelphia Pike, Amity Township, 11 a.m. HPTBC board member Vicky Heffner will talk about basket making in the Oley Valley, discussing key basket makers including Rueben Reifsnyder, Milt Lorah, Ollie Strausser and Freddie Beiber. In addition to her PowerPoint presentation, she will have several examples of their baskets to show as well. Suggested donation $2 per person. All proceeds benefit the Trust.
