Benzino Bashes The Black Community For Turning Its Back On Diddy Amid Allegations

Benzino has blasted the Black community for their seeming failure to defend or advocate for Sean “Diddy” Combs amid the mounting allegations levied against him, including sexual assault and physical abuse.

During an appearance on The Danza Project on Tuesday (May 21), the Boston native weighed in on the looming investigation surrounding the rap mogul, as two of his properties were raided by Homeland Security earlier this year.

According to Benzino, the scrutiny and invasion of Combs’ privacy has become excessive, as he notes that Combs has yet to be criminally charged in relation to any of the current claims made against him. “Since when have we given the law, the system, one of ours?” the former magazine owner asked, rhetorically.

“Since when? This man ain’t been charged with nothing criminally. Not one f**cking thing. They done went in the man’s property with tanks and army men and National Guards, and he ain’t got charged with one criminal charge right now to date. They don’t got one f**cking charge yet. I’m more upset about how our own are ready just to give him, ‘Here, take him. Lock him up.’ Since when do we do that?”

It’s unclear whether or not Benzino’s appearance on The Danza Project was filmed prior to CNN leaking footage of Combs physically assaulting former girlfriend Cassie Ventura in a Los Angeles hotel in 2016, as the matter wasn’t discussed in the clip of the episode.

In the grisly video of the incident, Combs can be seen chasing after Ventura through a hotel before knocking her down by striking her with his hand before kicking her repeatedly and throwing objects in her direction.

The Bad Boy Records founder has since publicly apologized for his actions captured in that footage, deeming them as “inexcusable. “It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you got to do that,” he said in a clip that quickly went viral on social media.

“I was f**ked up — I hit rock bottom — but I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video.” In the wake of the video’s release, Combs has seen multiple celebrities distance themselves from him, as LeBron James, Steph Curry, and even his former love interest, Yung Miami, unfollowed him on social media.
