Bengals tackle La'el Collins, on Active/Non-Football Injury list, cleared to practice
Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor told reporters last Monday that offensive tackle La'el Collins was dealing with a back issue he's experienced previously. Last Wednesday, Taylor said Collins is expected to be ready for the start of the season.
On Wednesday, Collins was cleared to practice.
The Bengals placed Collins on the Active/Non-Football Injury list last month. A player can be activated from that status at any time.
From The Enquirer's Kelsey Conway:
Some encouraging news for the #Bengals as right tackle La’el Collins has been cleared to practice. With Cappa back, we’ll get our first look at Cincy’s re-made offensive line at practice. Minus Joe Burrow taking snaps, of course.

The media just got to speak with La’el Collins now that he’s cleared, seems like he was never worried about the back injury being a long-term issue #Bengals

Taylor added last Monday that Collins feels good, and the team didn't want to rush him back for the start of training camp. He also said Collins' workload will be managed, with the goal for him to be ready for the start of the season.
From The Enquirer's Kelsey Conway via Twitter last Wednesday:
There’s La’el Collins walking while at practice. Collins is dealing with a back injury and Zac Taylor said they’ll ease him back into things. He’s expected to be good to go by Week 1 #Bengals pic.twitter.com/TjB1pRtMvs

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has said he feels better about the team's offensive line entering the 2022 season, particularly with the additions via free agency of Collins, guard Alex Cappa and center Ted Karras. Cappa, who had surgery to repair a core muscle injury, was placed Saturday on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, but Taylor said Monday he expects Cappa to return to practice sooner than Collins.
Cappa was removed Wednesday from the PUP list.
Conway wrote in May that Bengals starting left tackle Jonah Williams didn’t mince words when discussing the offensive line's protection of Burrow.
