It was boys vs. girls and the U.K. vs. the U.S. in a game of dodgeball on James Corden’s Monday “Late Late Show.” The CBS host captained the British team, Michelle Obama led the Americans.
Here’s Team U.K.: Corden, Reggie Watts, Harry Styles, Benedict Cumberbatch and John Bradley.
And Team USA: Obama, Kate Hudson, Mila Kunis, Melissa McCarthy, Lena Waithe and Allison Janney.
It was easy for the former first lady of the United States to put together her star-powered squad. As Kunis told the camera, “Listen, when Michelle Obama calls and asks you to do anything, you just say ‘yes.'”
It’s a different story when “James Corden” pops up on your phone, Styles said.
“When James Corden calls you, you initially ignore the call,” the One Direction member said. “Then he keeps calling you, and then starts texting saying, ‘Hey, did you get my call?’ And then he shows up at your house, your work, your hairdresser, your Pilates class, and your shower.”
For the record, Watts is not British — the numbers were already lopsided though.
Plus, as Corden put it to his employee: “Maybe you’d feel comfortable if you weren’t on any team? Maybe you’d feel comfortable if you weren’t the bandleader?”
