Ben & Jerry’s has some oat-rageous news.

On Wednesday, the ice cream company revealed that it would be changing the formula for all of their non-dairy ice creams to use a newly-developed oat milk base.

According to a press release, the new oat milk is “indulgent,” noting that “the oat base creates a smoother texture.”

The ice cream maker is starting by remaking the non-dairy chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate fudge brownie flavors. But they also have plans to implement the creamy new base in the nearly 20 flavors of non-dairy ice cream offered in its pints and scoop shops by spring 2024, a representative tells PEOPLE.

The ice cream company also teased that a new non-dairy flavor would be released, due in part to the new base. “A favorite, dairy classic being added to the line up next year – the first created with the oat recipe in mind,” the release reads.

Ben & Jerry’s has offered non-dairy ice creams since 2016. Their current flavor offerings use an almond or sunflower butter base, which also lend their flavor to the final ice cream. The new base is more neutral, allowing flavors to “shine as intended.”

“With this new recipe, Ben & Jerry’s fans can expect more: more flavor, more creamy texture and more dessert euphoria with the same signature chunks and swirls,” Ben & Jerry’s Flavor Guru Collen Rossell said in a statement. “The oat recipe is so good, it’s even loved by our most discerning dairy fans who are used to eating ice cream.”

The new oat milk recipe is available now in participating scoop shops and grocery stores across the country starting at $6.
