It wasn’t long after Ben Affleck signed on to play Batman in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice that speculation of Affleck eventually directing his own Batman movie began. When we caught up with him last week he seemed very open to the idea. That is, if all the right pieces are in place.
“I’ve just learned not to commit to movies until I really think that the script and everything is right about it, and if we got to a place where we had something great to do then I would do it. But right now we’re still developing,” Affleck said.
Another issue with taking on a project like this would be timing. Affleck doesn’t want to step on the Christopher Nolan-directed trilogy starring Christian Bale that saw it’s final release in 2012.
“[Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice] isn’t, to me, a stand-alone Batman movie. Batman’s in it, and I think that’s okay. But I wouldn’t do another just Batman movie right on top of Chris and Christian’s movies, I would just want a little more distance,” he said.
Watch: Christian Bale says Heath Ledger “completely ruined” his plans for Batman.
