Ben Affleck and Lindsay Shookus Have Split to Spend Time with Their Families: Source

Ben Affleck and Lindsay Shookus have gone their separate ways, PEOPLE confirms.

A source tells PEOPLE living in different cities was a factor in their breakup.

“She has a kid and an ex-husband and a job in New York and Ben has his family and a job in L.A. and while they love and respect each other they just realized it wasn’t going to work,” says the source. “They really gave it another solid try.”

Despite their split, the source adds, “They will always have love for each other.”

This is the second time Affleck, 46, and Shookus, 38, have separated. The two first made their relationship public when they were spotted grabbing dinner in July 2017 and split in late August 2018 just before the actor entered rehab.

Affleck is based in Los Angeles, where he lives near his ex-wife Jennifer Garner and their children: Violet, 13, Seraphina, 10, and Samuel, 7. Shookus’ home base is in New York City, where she shares custody of her daughter with ex-husband Kevin Miller and works as a producer on Saturday Night Live.

The pair have been spotted together more frequently in recent months after rekindling their romance earlier this year. The two attended the New York City premiere of Affleck’s new Netflix film Triple Frontier in early March. While they didn’t walk the red carpet together, they were seen walking out side-by-side in the snowy weather.

After the premiere, the two headed to the afterparty where they stayed close to each other while Affleck made the rounds talking to people.

The last time they were out in public as a couple was in March when they were seen walking around Los Angeles as they grabbed a bite to eat and ran some errands.

“They are doing well,” a source told PEOPLE at the time. “His focus is on working on himself, his family and his close relationships.”
