Beloved Manny's House of Pizza closes after 39 years at downtown Nashville's Arcade

Manny's House of Pizza will close after 39 years in Downtown Nashville's Arcade, the owners said in a statement Monday.

The Arcade building is undergoing extensive renovations, and the business is unable to continue normal operations, the announcement said.

"From my origins in Sicily, Italy to my journey through New York and eventually settling in Nashville, my family and I are immensely grateful for all of the wonderful memories and support we have received," reads the statement, signed by owner Manny Macca and his family.

"It has been the greatest pleasure serving multiple generations of families in Nashville and welcoming tourists from all over the world. Your patronage has meant everything to us."

Macca has been making pizza since his college years in Brooklyn, according to the restaurant's website. In 1984, he bought House of Pizza and began serving up New York-style in Downtown Nashville.

The closure appears to be effective immediately.

Notably, another member of the Macca family closed his own 23-year-old business last year. Joey's House of Pizza opened in 1999. Joey Macca announced in April 2022 via a handwritten note posted to social media that the restaurant would close.

"Since 1999, you all have become a huge part of our lives. You are so special to us," the note read. "We are closing our current restaurant, however; we are remaining in the hospitality business. We absolutely love serving our community! Please, stay tuned for our next venture!"

The sentiment in the Manny's closure announcement was slightly less hopeful.

"We are uncertain what the future holds for us in the Arcade at this time, but we hope to see you all again," the message said.
