Bella Hadid is one of the most accomplished supermodels in the world, however, there's still one person in the fashion world who still strikes fear into the cover girl's heart. Bella was speaking at the Vogue Fashion Festival in Paris on Friday in a special event that covered her life and a successful career in the modeling world.
Bella showed off her "Matrix"-style look before the event of a long leather jacket paired with a dark pair of pants and spoke about preparing to speak.
"This morning, about to speak at the @vogueparis French Vogue Fashion Festival with @loicprigent about my career , how it started, the progression and my passions. Humbled to speak with you and thank you @emmanuellealt for having me on such an important day!"
Bella revealed that even though she had modeled lingerie for Victoria's Secret, she never really felt comfortable, but all that changed when she modeled for Rihanna's Savage x Fenty line this past September.
"Rihanna’s amazing. For me, that was the first time on a runway that I felt really sexy. Because when I first did Fenty, I was doing other lingerie shows and I never felt powerful on a runway, like, in my underwear."
According to WWD, Bella explained that "I don’t necessarily love being myself sometimes ... Sometimes on the runway you get either nervous or you forget how your legs move."
The model also walked the runway in Rihanna's first-ever Savage x Fenty lingerie show in 2018.
Bella said that Rihanna allowing her to “walk any way she wanted" helped give her the confidence she needed to slay the runway.
23-year-old Bella spoke on being able to take care of her emotional health while working in a demanding and fast-paced environment, and she explained that she didn't always have the tools to cope.
"I would cry every single morning, I would cry during my lunch breaks, I would cry before I slept. I was very emotionally unstable for a while when I was working 14-hour days for four months straight as an 18-year-old."
"For a while, I just didn’t want to talk about it, and I’ve gone through a lot in the past few years with my health. I feel guilty for being able to live this incredible life, have the opportunities that I do, but somehow still be depressed. It doesn’t make sense."
Who Does She Fear?
After all the success she's had, Bella Hadid admitted that Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour still sends a shiver down her spine. She explained that even though she loves and respects Wintour, she will always be intimidated by the fashion icon.
"I love her. She’s great, but she’s definitely intimidating. When I first met her, I was almost starstruck because of the person that she is in fashion, but I will always respect everything that she says to me."
Bella further explained that she admires Wintour because "She is strong, she knows her strength and she shows it. As a woman, that’s something that you can never take away from her."
Bella's sister Gigi Hadid, is also a fan-favorite of Anna Wintour, as the supermodel has landed over 35 Vogue covers.
