‘Being the Ricardos’ Trailer: You’re Going to Love Nicole Kidman’s Lucy – and Javier Bardem’s Desi Arnaz (Video)
Amazon Prime Video dropped the trailer for “Being the Ricardos” Tuesday, revealing Nicole Kidman’s transformation into Lucille Ball and Javier Bardem’s into Desi Arnaz.

Kidman plays Lucille Ball and Bardem plays Desi Arnaz in the Aaron Sorkin film, which follows one week of production on an episode of “I Love Lucy” and the chaos that surrounds both the show and Lucy and Desi’s lives.
In the trailer, Kidman’s Ball says, “I am the biggest asset in the portfolio of the Columbia Broadcasting System,” as glimpses of the fictional versions of Lucy and Desi — both on and off the set of their sitcom “I Love Lucy” — flash on the screen.
“The biggest asset in the portfolio of Philip Morris Tobacco, Westinghouse,” Ball continues. “I get paid a fortune to do exactly what I love doing. I work side by side with my husband, who is genuinely impressed by me. And all I have to do to keep it is kill for 36 weeks in a row. And then do it again the next year.”
The trailer ends with the iconic image of Ball using her feet to crush grapes for wine in a legendary episode of “I Love Lucy,” with the narration noting: “You know, I did this show so Desi and I could be together. I had no idea it was going to be a hit.”
“Being the Ricardos,” which also stars Jake Lacy, J.K. Simmons, Nina Arianda, Tony Hale and Alia Shawkat, will launch Dec. 21 on Prime Video.
“It’s friggin’ amazing,” Lucie Arnaz, the daughter of Ball and Arnaz, said of Sorkin’s film in a video posted to Instagram on Monday, ahead of the trailer’s Tuesday drop. “[Sorkin] made a great movie… He captured the essence of that time in their lives so well. He captured the heart of my mother and my father, their relationship. He captured the love between those players in the ‘I Love Lucy’ show. The tension that was brought on in this particular week when all hell broke loose.”
