Behind the Style! How Sherri Shepherd Got Beyoncé-fied for Halloween (Exclusive)

The daytime talk show host pulled out all the stops for her 2023 Beyoncé Halloween transformation — and her stylist is sharing all the behind-the-scenes details with PEOPLE

It's only fitting that one of the queens of daytime TV dressed up as Queen Bey herself.

The comedian, 56, dedicated the entire Halloween episode of her self-titled talk show Sherri to the Grammy-winning superstar, recreating six of Beyoncé's iconic looks from her Renaissance Tour. (And PEOPLE had the exclusive!)

Now Shepherd's wardrobe stylist Willie Sinclair III is sharing even more insight behind the scenes of the Halloween spectacular.

“I went to Beyoncé’s concert in New Jersey and Sherri went to the concert in St. Louis. We talked right afterward and Sherri was totally inspired by the multitude of tour costumes and said this is what she wanted to recreate for Halloween," Sinclair III tells PEOPLE.

He shared with PEOPLE that the "biggest challenge" in recreating the multitude of looks was "learning" about Shepherd's "new body" post-breast reduction.

"As Chanel Smith [Shepherd's wardrobe assistant] and I were creating the looks, we were still familiarizing ourselves with her new body after the recent surgery," he says.

In the end, the collaboration went seamlessly.

“We created hacks like zippers at the bottom of the jumpsuits to make the backstage changes as seamless as possible during the show.”

Among the looks was their take on the red bodysuit, bustier-style top and harness by Off-White that Bey famously debuted in London. The real one featured 40,000 red hotfix crystals — some of which went on the outfit's matching red boots. And Shepherd's appeared to be equally sparkly.

There was also her version of the bee-inspired Mugler catsuit with thigh-high black latex boots, matching gloves and bug-like sunglasses.

Kitty Kat-Suit

The first costume that talk show host Sherri Shepherd donned was inspired by the Off-White™️ look that Beyoncé wore at the London stop of the Renaissance World Tour. This custom adaptation is by designer Michael Ngo and is covered in thousands of hotfix crystals with matching boots and a detachable belt harness.

Feeling Blue

Sheri was radiant in a custom re-creation of the Vera Wang Haute look that Beyoncé wore during the Vancouver stop of the Renaissance World Tour. It features a full sequin jumpsuit with a blue chiffon front-slit gown overlay. Designer Michael Costello made this creation a reality.

Bumble Bey

This show-stopping number was created by designer Rey Ortiz. It is a hand-painted, corseted bodysuit that was created using foam. To complete the look, the costume was paired with custom leggings, matching black vinyl thigh-high boots and gloves. Beyoncé wore the original Mugler by Casey Cadwallader look during the Barcelona stop on the Renaissance World Tour.

Hands Bawdy Suit

This costume is based on one of the most synonymous looks with the Renaissance World Tour and we felt that it had to be included. Beyoncé debuted this look from Loewe at the first show in Stockholm. Our version features thousands of crystals which were hand-rhinestoned over the “bawdy” suit as well as the red nailed gloves. Of course, we had to add a black glitter fan and matching golden ankle boots.

Ivy Park Four-ever

This @weareivypark jersey from the Park Trail collection is adorned with over 1,000 hotfix crystals emulating the original look worn by Beyoncé during the East Rutherford night one stop of the tour.

Fembot Fantasy

Inspired by the custom Balmain look originally worn at the second Amsterdam show of the Renaissance World Tour, this custom bodysuit, created by designer Luis Peralta, features hand-placed silver vinyl leather pieces and metal studs. The perfect silver boots came from Macy's I.N.C. International Concepts to complete the costume.
