Tim Burton is one step closer to showing the world his Beetlejuice sequel.

On Thursday morning, Burton, 65, shared a photo of himself sitting on a couch on the movie's set to Instagram. Burton wrote in the caption to his post that filming on the long-awaited movie is complete, months after production initially began in London in May.

"Just finished shooting Beetlejuice," the filmmaker wrote in the caption to his post. "Thank you to everyone involved."

Burton's next movie serves as a sequel to the 1988 original Beetlejuice, which starred Michael Keaton as the title character. Keaton, 72, is on board again for the sequel, as well as Winona Ryder, who will reprise her role as Lydia Deetz, and Catherine O'Hara, who played Delia Deetz.

Beetlejuice 2 filmed earlier this year outside London and in Vermont before the Screen Actors Guild went on strike in July, shutting down production on major Hollywood movies. Before SAG-AFTRA reached a deal to end the strike in November, Burton shared in a September interview with The Independent that the film was "99 percent done."

"On this last one, Beetlejuice 2, I really enjoyed it," he told the of working on the new movie. "I tried to strip everything and go back to the basics of working with good people and actors and puppets. It was kind of like going back to why I liked making movies.”

“I feel grateful we got what we got. Literally, it was a day and a half,” Burton added at the time of how much filming needed to be completed after the strike. “We know what we have to do."

Aside from Keaton, Ryder and O'Hara, Monica Bellucci, who is dating Burton, will also appear in the movie alongside Justin TherouxWillem Dafoe and Wednesday's Jenna Ortega. Ortega, 21, and Ryder, 52, were seen filming what appeared to be a wedding scene in England back in July. A number of outlets reported in the spring that Ortega is expected to play Lydia Deetz's daughter; the film's official announcement in May did bill her as “Lydia’s daughter.”

No plot details for the sequel have been confirmed, but Keaton himself told Empire in June he was excited to reprise one of his iconic '80s roles.

"Beetlejuice is the most f---in’ fun you can have working. It’s so fun, it’s so great. And you know what it is? We’re doing it exactly like we did the first movie," he said at the time.

Beetlejuice 2 is expected to release in theaters Sept. 6, 2024.
