The Sixth Anniversary Party of the Tallahassee Beer Society is over and officially in the #MostEpicTLHPartiesOfAllTime record books.

For the second year in a row this past Saturday, the Tallahassee Beer Society — and 500-600 of our most avid members — threw one heck of a shindig at the Hub at Feather Oaks in East Tallahassee.

In all, we received beer donations from 20 different breweries spanning 90 miles in any direction from Tallahassee. And since some breweries donated more than one beer, we had over 30 different beers to sample throughout the night.

But the evening once again wasn't just about drinking great craft beer from an all-local lineup; or eating amazing food from an all-local food truck lineup; or listening to the terrific performance by our live band that evening — Shift 8.

No, the party was held — in large part — so we could do one of the things we've come to do best over the years: give some money away!

Humane Society brought the dogs

And once again, the benefactor was the Leon County Humane Society, who we raised and donated $5,555 for at our 5th Anniversary a year ago as a result of proceeds from the inaugural Tallahassee Beer Society Membership Card. (And, yes, in honor of our 5-year anniversary, that final, 5-heavy figure last year was both intentional and - at the time - the most money we had ever donated to one charity at one time).

But we broke that record this past Saturday thanks to even higher sales of the 2023 Membership Card.

This year, we are proud to announce that we were able to donate $7,500 to LCHS, whose Executive Director Lisa Glunt — and over a dozen volunteers — were on hand once again to accept (despite the fact SOMEONE with the TLHBS forgot to bring the actual "big fake check" to present in a total amateur-hour move … cough .. Danny … cough)

The Leon County Humane Society attended the party in person for the second year in a row and brought with them several adoptable dogs and tons of information about how you can get involved and help out.

After the donation was made, Lisa addressed the crowd and thanked everyone for their support of LCHS, the Membership Card and us.

"We rely on donations like this to keep doing what we do and caring for these wonderful animals, so we appreciate everyone's support so much," she said.

And just like last year, everyone who attended and wore a "Drink Tallahassee Beer" shirt, hat or hoodie came up for a giant group pic. Aside from making the donation, that's always our favorite part.

Local food and beverage favorites

The beer that was donated by all of the breweries was outstanding and you couldn't force us to pick a favorite. So we just want to use the space to think everyone who contributed to make it an outstanding event for the second year in a row: Proof, Lake Tribe, Deep, Ology, Fools Fire, Oyster City (Apalach & Tally locations), Amicus Brewing Ventures, Civic Brewing, Halpatter Brewing, Eastpoint Beer Company, Coastal Soul, Southern Fields, Circle City, Southern Philosophy, Georgia Beer Co., T'Velo Brewing, Bandwagon Brewing, Hammerhead Brewing, Bromidic Brewing and the North Florida Brewers League.

And our food truck lineup was full of all stars like MAAD Goat Pizza, Catering Capers, 88 Crepes, Rich Rob's Philly Stop, Tasty Love, Mr. V's Finest Hot Dogs, Oyster Mom, Sweet Cacao Chocolate, 221B Bakers Treat and BK's SnowCone Factory.

But we couldn't have pulled the party off yet again without the help of the great staff at The Hub, as well as Hub owners Scott Carruthers & Katrice Howell. That graciously allowed us to throw the party there for the second year in a row at this gorgeous 14-acre farm-turned-gathering space and we hope it continues to be an annual event right there.

We just truly appreciate everybody so much who helped make the night possible!

More brew fun coming up

As for some other charitable causes we'll be closing the year with, put the Oct. 28 Inaugural St. Marks Brewfest on your calendar, as well as the 25th Annual Elder Care Services Oktoberfest the very next day on Oct. 29th at Cascade Park. Both events benefit charity and both events will have a great local craft beer lineup.

And don't forget that the 2024 Tallahassee Beer Society Membership Card is coming soon! We will have them ready to pre-purchase on Black Friday - just like last year - and they will be delivered in your mailbox or set for pickup at Oyster City right before Christmas so you can give it as a cool, unique gift that supports small businesses and the LCHS.

We'll have more details on that soon, but until then, cheers to another wonderful fundraiser and a great party to celebrate!

And remember: You still have just under 3 months left to use the 2023 card before it expires, so make sure to take advantage and get out there, support local and #DrinkTallahasseeBeer!
