'Beef' Star Ali Wong Will Be Declared Legally Single This Summer Following Her Divorce

Multi-hyphenate entertainer Ali Wong is set to officially become a single woman following her drama-free divorce from Justin Hakuta.

The Court recently announced the activation of the "Beef" star's single status in legal documents obtained by The Blast. Although the details of Wong and Hakuta's divorce settlement are confidential, a judge has signed off on the agreement, marking the end of their legal marriage.

In the court documents, a judge accepted the dissolution of Wong and Hakuta's marriage after seven years and four months. Despite their relationship being legally over, the duo's single status won't be activated until July 13, 2024.

The documents also revealed the former couple have a "Further Judgment on Reserved Issues," which serves as a "binding marital settlement agreement" between them.

The terms of this undisclosed judgment were reached with the aid of a mediator, and it addresses issues like custody and property division.

While the details weren't shared, the filing explained the Further Judgment would "award and confirm certain assets and debts to each Party, whether community, quasi-community or separate property."

It also stipulates how the pair will address the maintenance and custody of their daughters — Mari Justin Hakuta and Nikki Alex Hakuta — alongside spousal support.

That wasn't all; the agreement will resolve taxation issues and provide for waivers, releases, indemnifications, and any other problems.

The Former Couple Were On The Same Page Regarding Their Divorce

Three months before a judge signed off on their divorce, The Blast reported that Wong's ex-husband was on the same page with her about the terms of their separation.

Hakuta responded favorably to her divorce filing, implying they had split amicably and echoed his support for joint custody of their daughters.

As for spousal support, his filing claimed, "The Parties are in mediation and intend to resolve all support issues by written stipulation." For other cost issues like attorney fees, the legal documents noted:

Wong Described Their Split As 'Unconventional'

The actress and Hakuta ended their relationship in 2022, with a source confirming it ended without bad blood. The individual said, "It's amicable, and they will continue to co-parent lovingly," a claim the former couple has proven accurate with their continued friendship.

While reflecting on their separation, Wong echoed similar sentiments about the former couple's amicable relationship. "We're really, really close; we're best friends. We've been through so much together. It's a very unconventional divorce," she raved.

She noted that she had left a pickleball game with Hakuta before the interview and revealed he and their daughters would join her on her comedy tour.

"This is the first hour I'm doing since I started, where I'm single. I think we're going to call it the Single Lady tour," Wong joked.

The Actress' Mother Didn't Support Her Divorce

During an interview, Wong confessed she was shocked by how quickly the news of her separation spread like wildfire. However, the "hardest part" of getting a divorce wasn't the media attention but her mother's reaction to the news.

"I had told her before that I thought we might get divorced, and she was really upset. She looked me in the eye and asked, 'Can you just wait until I die?' She was literally asking me to not live a life for myself," Wong explained.

The comedian continued saying, "But she's 82, what do I expect? She hasn't had her period in 40 years. She's in the sha-ha-hallows of senior citizenship. But it was still really f-cking hard dealing with all her fear of the shame it would bring her."

Months before news of Wong's and Hakuta's separation broke in 2022 The Blast reported the multi-hyphenate star had joked about missing her single life at a stand-up comedy show.

The TV personality claimed she envied the freedom of single people and missed those days, saying: "Like an idiot, I asked this dude to ask me to go to prison. And now I'm in monogamy jail, and I don't know how to get out."

Wong joked that "every five minutes," she thought about cheating on Hakuta; however, she never crossed the line "because no worthy opportunity has presented itself," and she also did not want to go through a divorce.
