Charli XCX just dropped the video for “360,” and it’s catnip for a very specific cohort of online gay people.

The song is the latest single from Charli’s upcoming album, brat. In classic meta Charli XCX fashion, the video is both a send-up of the concept of “hot internet girls,” and an earnest tribute to it girls throughout the years. The video begins with a dinner party straight from Gay Twitter’s dreams — the guests have gathered “to fulfill the prophecy of finding a new hot internet girl,” in the words of model/chef/musician Gabriette. “Or else our kind will cease to exist,” Euphoria actor Chloe Cherry says solemnly. “Forever.”

Featuring a wildly stacked cast of celebrities ranging from comedians to influencers to ‘90s icons (including Rachel Sennott, Gabbriette, Chloe Cherry, Richie Shazam, Salem Mitchell, Julia Fox, Isamaya Ffrench, Hari Nef, Emma Chamberlain, Alex Consani, Quen Blackwell, and Chloë Sevigny), “360” shows that being a hot girl is more a state of mind than anything else. That being said, there were some solid pointers for anyone who wants to channel the hot girl within. Below, we compiled a guide to being a hot internet girl, according to “360.”

Have je ne sais quois

After a moment of deliberation, the server at the dinner party (played by Greer Cohen) is selected as the Chosen Hot Girl. When she asks what she needs to do to play the part, Julia Fox answers, “You actually need to have this like… je ne sais quois.” It’s true that being hot is all about the vibes — as the video shows, you can be in all kinds of random, unglamorous situations, and still serve cunt.

Go to the gym

Crucially, you have to do anything other than actually working out. You could take a page from Charli’s book and just spill red wine all over yourself, or from Sennott, who texts while bracing herself on an exercise ball, or Fox, who chats up a guy who’s running on the treadmill. Just make sure you look vaguely bored the whole time.

Smoke in inappropriate places

Inexplicably in one scene, Charli, Alex Consani, and Gabriette are in a hospital hallway, dancing around a bedridden old man and blowing vape smoke in his face. Later, Chloë Sevigny tosses a cigarette butt over her shoulder, causing a literal garbage fire. But hey, you can get away with anything if you’re a hot girl.

Take over a DMV office

And stage a photoshoot with half a dozen of your most glamorous friends, as Charli does in the video. Honestly, not even 100% sure if this is a DMV, but any dimly lit office space that exudes vibes of utter despair will probably work just fine.

The “Sweat” tour duo's recent appearance on *Late Night With Seth Meyers* was perfectly esoteric.

Throw a house party in a dingy living room

In one scene, the hot girls are dancing around a living room while a family of three sits morosely on the couch. Why are they there? Who knows, and who cares? The hot girls (and producer A.G. Cook, who briefly appears) certainly don’t.

Crash a car

Weirdly niche, but vehicular incidents as a Hot Girl Behavior have been a part of Charli’s discography since all the way back in 2011 with “I Love It.” That continued with 2022’s Crash, and Emma Chamberlain and Quen Blackwell keep that going strong in the video.

Be a multi-hyphenate

One thing that links all the hot girls in “360” is that they all have their fingers in many pies. Richie Shazam models, takes photos, and writes; Hari Nef models, acts, and writes; Gabbriette is a chef, model, and singer-songwriter extraordinaire; Chloe Cherry had a prolific career in porn before making her TV debut in Euphoria. You get the gist. As the video teaches us, even waiters can learn to hot girl pout. And so can you.
