After saying that she may not attend the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, the pop star, 34, hit the award show’s pink carpet in a bold, butt-baring ensemble.

For the show, Rexha donned a black leather dress complete with spaghetti straps and a bullet-bra bustier. Already striking from the front, the form-fitting, floor-length dress was even more jaw-dropping from the back.

When the “Meant to Be” singer, a presenter at the ceremony, turned around on the pink carpet, she revealed two circular cutouts — one on each butt cheek — and, in between them, a silky black horse tail.

Rexha paired the bold gown with black platform pumps and some bright bling — silver and green tassel earrings, chunky crystal bracelets on each wrist and silver rings on her fingers, which were painted with a light pink shade.

The “Break My Heart Myself” singer’s VMA appearance comes one day after she said she was considering skipping the show.

In a TikTok the musician shared on Monday, she said she was not sure if she would appear because she was feeling “anxious AF.”

“I don’t know if I am going tomorrow,” she said in the video. “I do have an outfit. It is cute. And I do want to wear my dress and I do really want to go to celebrate my nomination and my friends’ nominations, but I do feel like anxiety gets the best of me.”

The VMA presenter and nominee (Rexha is up for best collaboration for her song with David Guetta, “I’m Good (Blue)”) went on to say that she was “not feeling so confident” ahead of the MTV ceremony.

“I want to start off by saying that I am very grateful and blessed to be able to be invited to these award shows, to be able to do what I love,” she said in the video. “I know that the criticism comes with the territory, so I am all good with that. I mean, sometimes it does get to me, I am human.”

She continued, “I wanted just to talk about this because I meet a lot of people and a lot of times they’ll be like, ‘Oh, my God. I love how you’re all about body positivity and confidence.’ Let me tell you: Right now, I’m not feeling so confident.”

Rexha — who was recently diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), of which weight gain is one of the main side effects — said that she was worried about appearing on the VMAs red carpet, and the chatter that follows.

“I am so anxious and stressed about going on the red carpet and, I guess, people talking about my weight, because I’m not really loving myself right now,” she continued, adding that she is “not really feeling like the bad bitch that I usually am.”

Rexha said that she wanted to share this honest message because “everybody has these days and nobody feels perfect,” and even asked her fans for “motivational tips or tricks.”

“Maybe you’ll see me on the red carpet tomorrow,” Rexha concluded the TikTok.
