Beaver County Symphonic Wind Ensemble is 'Celebrating Music in Pennsylvania'

ROCHESTER ― The Beaver County Symphonic Wind Ensemble will perform "Celebrating Music in Pennsylvania" as its autumn concert Oct. 21 at Rochester High School Auditorium.

Showtime is 7 p.m.

All pieces are written by Pennsylvania composers.

The program:

"American Overture for Band" by Joseph Willcox Jenkins.

"Arabesque" by Pittsburgh native Samuel Hazo.

"Bright Lights" by Robert Sheldon.

"Each Time You Tell Their Story," by- Hazo, with poetry narration.

"Heroic Fanfare" by Paul Murtha.

"Hometown Miniatures" by Drew Fennell.

"Incandescent" by - Todd Goodman, chief academic officer of Lincoln Park Performing Arts Center and a BCSWE member who will conduct his own composition.

"Jubilant Flourishes," by Travis Weller.

"Pennywhistle Jig" by Henry Mancini.

"Parade of the Tall Ships" by Jay Chattaway.

"Roaring Run" by Robert Traugh.

"Salute to P.M.E.A. (Pennsylvania Music Educators Association)" by A. D. Davenport. Scott Cullen, the current PMEA president, will guest-conduct this piece.

"Sure On This Shining Night," by Samuel Barber.

The Beaver County Symphonic Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Kevin Newton and assistant director Bobby Jarsulic.

As always, the concert is free to the public and non-perishable food items will be accepted in lieu of admission to benefit the Little Free Pantry at House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Aliquippa.
