Feb. 13—INDIANAPOLIS — Beef and Board Dinner Theatre's current production, "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical," is a must see for anyone who appreciates pop music from the late '50s through the mid '70s.

In a nutshell, it's about the life of Carole King, one of the most successful female songwriters of the latter half of the 20th century.

Devon Perry portrays King in this production and absolutely nails it! Accompanying herself on the piano, Perry delivers several of King's biggest hits with a passion that attendees will take note of and appreciate.

The rest of the cast also delivers fine performances and helps round out a truly enjoyable evening of live theatre.

King wrote or co-wrote 118 pop hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and had 61 songs that charted in the United Kingdom.

King has recorded 25 solo albums, the most successful being Tapestry, which held the record for most weeks at No. 1 by a female artist for more than 20 years. Her record sales are estimated at more than 75 million copies worldwide. She has won four Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. She has been inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, as a performer and songwriter. She is the recipient of the 2013 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, the first woman to be so honored, and is also a 2015 Kennedy Center Honoree.

Her album Tapestry topped the U.S. album chart for 15 weeks in 1971 and remained on the charts for more than six years.

For much of her career, King wrote songs other performers enjoyed commercial success with and many of them are featured in this show including "You've Got A Friend," "One Fine Day," "So Far Away," "Take Good Care of My Baby," "Up on the Roof," "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling," "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" and "Natural Woman." They are all wonderfully done in this show.

"Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" will be featured on the Beef & Boards' stage through March 30. Tickets, which include a delicious dinner buffet and parking, may be purchased by calling the B&B box office at 317-872-0503 or visiting www.beefandboards.com.
