Beale Street Music Festival 2023 lineup: GloRilla, The Lumineers, Earth, Wind & Fire, among performers

Folk-pop act The Lumineers, rock combo Greta Van Fleet, and roots duo Robert Plant & Alison Krauss are among those headlining this year's Beale Street Music Festival, Memphis in May officials announced Monday.

Other acts set to play the music fest, set for May 5-7, include a mix of familiar names and up-and-coming artists across a variety of genres. The notable acts include Memphis-rooted hitmakers Earth, Wind & Fire, Philadelphia rap group The Roots, legacy reggae artist Ziggy Marley, Bluff City hip-hop star GloRilla, Americana icon Lucinda Williams and Texas blues rocker Gary Clark Jr., among others.

In a statement announcing the roster of acts, Memphis in May President and CEO James Holt noted "this year’s lineup reflects the broad musical tastes of our festival goers with a diverse lineup of some of today’s hottest artists as well past festival favorites and stars of tomorrow. We endeavor to offer something for almost every musical taste."

The festival is making its return to Tom Lee Park this year. It relocated to the Fairgrounds at Liberty Park in 2022 due to ongoing construction at Tom Lee Park. The relocation followed two years of COVID-19 cancellations for Beale Street Music Festival.

Memphis in May board Chairman Leigh Shockey touted the music festival's return to its historic base after four years away. "There’s nothing like experiencing the Beale Street Music Festival [at] Tom Lee Park," said Shockey. "We are so pleased to return the festival to its long-term home downtown on the riverfront at the foot of historic Beale Street."

One change to this year's festivities is that the iconic Blues Tent — a mainstay of the event — will be presented as free entertainment in Handy Park during the festival. Sponsored by Memphis Tourism, the Blues Stage on Beale will be open to the public and free of charge.

Memphis in May confirmed nearly 60 acts in total on Monday (42 for Tom Lee Park and another 17 for the Blues Stage). The organization also noted that it would be adding more acts to the main festival in the coming weeks. "We have a few more surprise additions to come," added Holt.

The Blues Stage on Beale will be headlined by Mexican-American roots band Los Lobos, Grammy-winning bluesman Keb' Mo' and blues rockers North Mississippi Allstars. Other notable blues, roots and R&B artists – including Grammy winner Cedric Burnside, guitar greats Ana Popavic and Bernard Allison – will also appear at Handy Park as part of the free concerts.
