Beaches rock right through October with tribute acts, jam bands, jazz and yes, Afroman

The fall shoulder season seems to bring more beach-area music events each year, and  2023 is proving to be no exception. With the weather warming up again in recent days, business is banging — and there is no shortage of entertainment to go along with it.

Tribute acts to Rolling Stones, Ozzy Osbourne and more

In Berlin, the Ocean Downs Casino will launch its annual, outdoor Rocktober concert series this week. It will showcase tribute acts on Fridays at 7 p.m., with admission being $25 per evening.

The Oct. 6 kickoff will feature a quartet called Space Cowboy which pays homage to the classic rock catalog of the Steve Miller Band. The Land of Ozz will perform hard-rocking songs by Ozzy Osbourne on Oct. 13. Classic Stones will tackle the greatest hits of Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones on Oct. 20.

Berlin' Globe has jam band and even Afroman

Also in Berlin, the Burley Oak Brewing Company has music as well as suds on tap. Connecticut jam band One Time Weekend will be joined by local opening act Roast John on Saturday, Oct. 7 ($15). Doors open at 6 p.m., with set times to be announced.

New Jersey singer-songwriter Ryan Zimmerman will play a free acoustic show from 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8. Tickets are on sale now ($10) for a 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13 performance by Philadelphia groove masters Muskrat Flats.

Looking ahead to next week in Berlin, The Globe has a concert set by an entertainer known for infusing his songs with large doses of humor. Singer-rapper Afroman is sure to play his trademark hit single “Because I Got High” at the show scheduled for 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11 ($45).

In coastal Sussex County, The Listening Booth continues to expand its schedule. The acoustic concert venue is located in the Tanger Outlets Surfside shopping center on southbound Route 1 at Midway. The spot at 35000 Midway Outlet Drive (Suite 218) will present an encore visit from New Orleans folk-rock diva Lilli Lewis at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5 ($25).

The Listening Booth was also set to launch a weekly Acoustic Open-Mic Night this week. It is to take place each Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. There is no cover charge, but there is a two-drink minimum. Last but not least, tickets are on sale now ($30) for an appearance by Nashville singer-songwriter Griffin House at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 15.

Time for all that jazz in Rehoboth Beach

Music fans have been gearing up in a major way for next week’s 34th annual Rehoboth Beach Autumn Jazz Festival, which runs Thursday, Oct. 12 through Sunday, Oct. 15.

The Thursday kickoff concert featuring Pieces Of A Dream (and a jam session with guest musicians) at the1,000-seat Rehoboth Beach Convention Center has sold out in advance, as have eight other shows. However, tickets remain for more than a dozen other performances on five stages.

Tickets are also available for the 11th annual True Blue Jazz Festival, which will run concurrently in downtown Rehoboth Oct. 12-15. Things will begin at 7:30 p.m., Thursday at the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel with music by Paula Johns with the Joe Holt Trio ($30).
