‘Beaches’ Remake Trailer: Idina Menzel Belts ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ in Lifetime Promo

Early next year Lifetime will be rolling out the small screen remake of Garry Marshall’s 1988 classic “Beaches.” Starring Idina Menzel as Bette Midler’s CC and Nia Long as Barbara Hershey’s Hillary, the first trailer for the TV revival has been released.

The new “Beaches” differs from the original in that it is set in Venice instead of the original’s Atlantic City, New Jersey. The remake follows CC and Hillary’s friendship, spanning over several decades. The first sneak peek includes CC’s rise to fame as a successful singer, the birth of Hillary’s daughter and the unexpected news of her tragic illness.

Menzel can also be heard singing the iconic song “Wind Beneath My Wings,” which she recorded for the film as well as “The Glory of Love,” among others.

Lifetime’s “Beaches” premieres January 21 at 8 p.m. Check out the trailer below.
