‘Battlebots’ Ring Announcer Might Be the Best in the Business

Michael Buffer might be ready to rumble, but when it comes waxing poetic in the ring, Battlebots ring announcer Faruq Tauheed is in a league of his own. Tauheed, who’s from Philadelphia, really adds to the pageantry of the robotic battles with his clever robot introductions.

He could be referencing LL Cool J while introducing a contestant — “Don’t call it a comeback, he’s been here for years, rocking his peers, putting robots in fear. It’s Son of Whyachi!” Or he could be taking a page out of the Macbeth witches’ notebook with intros like “Glippity-gloppity, glippity-goo, the voodoo child is back for Season 2! It’s Witch Doctor!” Tauheed is very entertaining.

It is a rare joy to find a ring announcer who can still make calls like this: “He’s the Ayatollah of the remote controll-ah. Here with a modern marvel of wreck-nology, it’s Lock-jaw!“

Battlebots airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
