‘Battlebots’ match ends in fiery explosion: ‘You see the fuel just spew out’
There was a big rematch on BattleBots, Thursday, as Free Shipping hoped to to get revenge against Uppercut.
“We've fought them before and they did quite a bit of damage to our frame,” said Free Shipping team member Gary Gin. “So, gotta try to make sure that doesn't happen again.”
Just 5 seconds into the fight, Uppercut managed to puncture and ignite Free Shipping’s weapons’ fuel. As one viewer on Twitter pointed out, “Live by the flamethrower, die by the flame thrower.”
“You see the fuel just spew out of there,” announcer Kenny Florian explains during replay. “And then, Uppercut finishes the job. Bang, look at that butane ignite into a fireball there.”
While Uppercut team captain Alex Hattori was happy they won, he thought the whole thing was a little anticlimactic.
“It took a lot longer to get the robot to be prepared for this fight, than it took for the fight to go down,” Hattori said after the fight.
The fiery ending not only made for a fantastic finish, it also reminded BattleBots fans of what a great robot Uppercut is.

KYLIE MAR: While Uppercut team captain Alex Hattori was happy they won. He thought the whole thing was a little anticlimactic.

ALEX HATTORI: It happens.
