Call of Duty MW3 and Warzone: Are servers down or slow? How to check

Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare II have been experiencing outages since around 4 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23. Some players' progress is not being saved and there has been unusual behavior related to account levels and load-outs.

Call of Duty is a video game set in World War II. Players can see the war as American, Soviet and British soldiers. Players advance through World War II in campaigns or battle against human opponents in multiplayer mode. Solo play provides computer-controlled allies to simulate actual war, according to Britannica.

The game is produced by Activision, and Season 2 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone went live on Wednesday, Feb. 7. Here’s what to know about these new drops and current server outages.

Call of Duty server outage

Call of Duty Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 are experiencing outages as reported on Downdetector. The outage seemed to have started around 4:28 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 23, and Call of Duty addressed it on X, formerly known as Twitter, through their account @CODUpdates.

“We're working on a fix for a known issue that appeared overnight that is preventing progress from being tracked in various areas of the game including but not limited to events, challenges, Battle Pass, and SR,” the post said. “Players may also notice unusual behavior related to account level and loadouts.”

It appears that the outage is kicking users out of Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 matches and causing them to lose progress. Some accounts are also being reset to Level One.

Another update by Call of Duty said, “#Warzone Ranked Play: Resurgence and #MW3 Ranked Play have been brought offline while known progression issues are being investigated.”

Their update posted at 10:23 a.m. also mentioned that players are unable to access Modern Warfare Zombies and the investigation is ongoing.

What is Battle Royale Preview?

Battle Royale Preview is one of the new modes that was added to Warzone during this Season 2 launch. It is a limited-time mode that allows players to experiment with features that may be integrated into the standard Battle Royale mode. This is all dependent on community feedback and evaluations.

This mode is playable in Quads, or teams of four, in Urzikstan. It comes up in playlists when game developers want insight or data.

It incorporates Covert Exfil and Weapon Case features. Covert Exfil gives players a new method to escape early and win by calling a helicopter that flies you and your squad out of the match, according to ONE Esports.

Covert Exfil lets players escape with a Weapon Case which comes up in a small search area at the start of each match. Finding and holding this case marks you visible to all your enemies.
