Battle Creek is ready for its close-up.

Several destinations in the city are being highlighted during a new episode of the PBS show "Under the Radar," which premiers Thursday night.

During the episode, hosts Tom Daldin and Jim Edelman visit some local staples, including Café Rica, Waco Kitchen, Horrocks Farm Market and Albion’s Kids ‘N’ Stuff.

“I am excited about this episode — just the range and variety of stuff we’re featuring, it’ll have a little bit of something for everybody,” Daldin said in a news release.

Willard Library and the Calhoun County Visitors Bureau are teaming up to host a watch party for the new episode at 6 p.m. Thursday inside the library’s downtown programming room, 7 W. Van Buren St. The event will feature free popcorn and a special pre-recorded message from Daldin and Edelman, followed by a screening of the 30-minute episode.

For those wishing to watch at home, the episode will air at 8:30 p.m. Thursday on WGVU.

“This episode is going to be special,” Annie Kelley, communications director for the Calhoun County Visitors Bureau, said. “Watching the interviews, what came through for me is how Battle Creek is blessed with talented, hard working people who are making this city a better place. It wasn’t only about cool things to do, it was about community and family. I can’t wait to see how it looks through the lens of ‘Under the Radar.’”

Longtime friends Edelman and Daldin have traveled all over the mitten state for their PBS show in search of the weird, wacky and wonderful. They've co-authored three books, each one featuring 50 places to go, and signed copies will soon be available for purchase at the Battle Creek Welcome Center.

A book signing with Edelman and Daldin will be held at a yet-to-be-determined date in early December at the Welcome Center, 34 Jackson St. W.
