Another DC Universe rumor has been dispelled by James Gunn. This time, the rumor involved a spin-off of Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

A fan asked Co-CEO James Gunn if it was true that DC Studios is making a Poison Ivy spin-off movie based in the world of The Batman. Gunn shut the rumor down, replying with, “Nope.”

The rumor may have stemmed from the existence of the upcoming The Penguin series, which will focus on the villain that appeared in the 2022 superhero movie. It is being written by Lauren LeFranc, who is also set as the showrunner. The first two episodes will be directed by Craig Zobel.

The Batman: Part II is being written by Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin. It will feature Robert Pattinson and Andy Serkis returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Alfred Pennyworth, respectively. The superhero sequel is set to release on October 3, 2025, and will remain a DC Elseworlds movie — a film that is separate from the main DC Universe continuity.
