Bars Open Early for Comey Testimony Live Viewing Parties

In advance of former FBI Director James Comey‘s testimony during the Senate intelligence committee hearing, many bars across the U.S. announced that they would be opening early Thursday morning to accommodate people who wanted to watch live with their friends while enjoying some cocktails.

A lot of the bars offered themed specials to go along with the fun. Union Pub in Washington, D.C., opened at 9:30 a.m. ET and was offering a round of drinks for the house every time President Trump issued a tweet on the hearing.

The Foxfire Room in Los Angeles opened at 7 a.m. PT so that a group of L.A.-based comedians could watch the testimony while drinking and posting about it on Facebook Live and Twitter.

And at Axelrad Beer Garden in Houston, they’re touting the event as the Super Bowl of Washington and offering such specialty drinks as Impeachmint, Bad Hombre, and Frozen Covfefe.

And the D.C. bar the Partisan was packed to capacity, and dead silent during some of the more compelling parts of Comey’s testimony.
