Barry Keoghan Is Killing the Sneaker Game

There are a lot of things we can talk about when it comes to Barry Keoghan—his Mad Hatter-y Met Gala look, his affinity for a drippy monochrome fit, and personally, I'm still not over the last scene of Saltburn—but today, I want to talk to you about the actor's footwear rotation. Specifically, his sneakers.

When he's not sitting front row at a fashion show or suited up for awards season, Keoghan is usually sporting a sleek, two-tone fit, some shiny accessories, and more often than not, a great pair of kicks. Sneakers that we all have and love, or sneakers that we should all have and love. Take the night of the Met Gala, for instance. Right after the fanciness was over, he exchanged his shiny boots for an infallible classic: white Nike Air Force 1s. Celebrities—they're just like us!

Being icons, Air Force 1s are pretty rockable with anything, but Keoghan makes a case for wearing them with anything and everything. He wore 'em at a glamorous party at Soho House after the Met Gala, and he wore 'em at in the desert Coachella with a Burberry scarf and shorts and white Versace tank top. Talk about versatility.

Nikes aren't the only sneaker Keoghan rocks, though. He also recently donned Axel Arigato's Orbit Vintage low-top. With Keoghan's two-tone blue outfit, it made for a winning combination.

The guy has good taste, clearly. Axel Arigato's sneakers walk the line (see what I did there?) between neatly between dressed-up and dressed-down with panels of contrasting leather and a slightly platformed sole. These are kicks you can wear à la Barry, with a simple, stylish fit, or that you can wear with jeans or shorts.

What really gets me about Keoghan's footwear rotation, though, is that he doesn't just keep things safe and easy. It's not all about versatile shoes that go with everything—sometimes, it's about funky, chunky Ugg sneakers that look like slippers on steroids, complete with a neon sole.

In my mind, this is the perfect sneaker. It's kind of a mule and it's kind of a moccasin and it's kind of a sneaker, and clearly, it looks cool as hell paired with a good ol' sweater-vest-and-shorts combo.

Anyone can wear Nikes, and plenty of cool guys are wearing Axel Arigatos, but it takes a true fit genius to venture into the world of suede, padded Ugg slippers, platformed upon a tire-treaded outsole. It's all about thinking outside the (shoe)box.
