“Just havin’ a laugh 🤡,” Keoghan wrote in his Instagram caption after meeting with Phoenix briefly
This is what happens when an unstoppable force like Saltburn star Barry Keoghan meets an immovable object like Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix at the 2024 Golden Globes.
The two actors — who have both portrayed the Joker within the past five years — met briefly at Sunday’s award show in Los Angeles.
“Just havin’ a laugh 🤡,” Keoghan, 31, wrote in his Instagram caption for the two photos he posted on Monday.
Phoenix, 49, portrayed failed comedian Arthur Fleck before he became the clown-faced supervillain in the Joker, a 2019 film that earned him the Academy Award for best actor. Meanwhile, Keoghan played the Joker opposite Robert Pattinson’s Batman in the 2022 movie The Batman.

“The only time I've ever been on this stage before was accepting one of these on behalf of our dear friend Heath Ledger, and that was complicated and challenging for me,” said Nolan, 53, referencing 2008’s The Dark Knight, while accepting the award for best director for Oppenheimer.
“And in the middle of speaking, I looked down at Robert Downey Jr., [who] caught my eye and gave me a look of support,” Nolan continued. “The same look [he's] giving me now — the same love and support he showed so many people in your community over the years.”
Ledger — who was 28 when he died in 2008 — posthumously won the best supporting actor Oscar for his take of the Joker.
Leto, 52, took on the Joker role in Suicide Squad in 2016, Birds of Prey in 2020 and Zack Snyder’s Justice League in 2021.
