At the age of three, Bree Billiter knew exactly what she wanted to be. As insane as it sounds for a child so young to know their life’s purpose, Billiter says she doesn’t quite know how her love for fashion was born, maybe through designing dresses for her Barbie dolls, but that she has always felt drawn to designing.

“I was like out of the womb designing,” she said. “I don't know what would have influenced a three-year-old to want to be doing this. I just feel like I was meant to do it.”

By 22, Billiter had launched her first collection for her brand, BreeOriginal, and graduated from MassArt with a degree in fashion design. The following year, she moved to New York to pursue her dreams.

Now, she’s still in New York filling the runways with drama and color each Fashion Week, working with celebrities — such as Tracee Ellis Ross, Tyra Banks and Dita Von Tesse — and taking a stab at TV, starring in E!’s new series “OMG Fashun” on May 6.

Barnstable native to star on new E! fashion competition show hosted by Julia Fox and Law Roach

In the show, hosted by fashion icon Julia Fox and celebrity stylist Law Roach, three “disruptors” are challenged to design an outfit that defies the rules and conventions of fashion and adheres to the theme. Works are judged by a panel of three: Fox, Roach and a rotating guest style expert. The winning disruptor is awarded a $10,000 cash prize plus Fox modeling their design.

“I have always gone about designing in a very unique way,” Billiter said. “I think what I bring to the table doesn't fit in a particular box and ‘OMG Fashun’ celebrates that.”

In Billiter’s episode, titled “Plastics,” she and her fellow disruptors, Padina Bondar-Gibbs and Brittany Schall, are tasked with creating a design out of sustainable materials — what materials exactly, I can’t say. I don’t want to spoil the show!

“To get in front of Julia Fox and Law Roach, it's just absolutely life-changing,” Billiter gushed. “Julia Fox is the person that you want a stamp of approval from. She's the cool girl. Law Roach is the god of fashion, second to Anna Wintour. You need his stamp of approval right now. It's just insane to have the opportunity to have in front of you.”

How did Bree Billiter prepare for 'OMG Fushun'

Leading up to filming, Billiter joked, she was focused on containing her competitive streak but found herself worrying about unknowns like what materials and machinery she’d have to use, the quality of the design she would produce and if she would be healthy enough to even film due to her chronic illness.

“I was just so scared to make something that I couldn't even stand by,” she said. “...Every single possibility was running through my mind (but) at a certain point, you just have to come to peace with it. Whatever’s gonna happen is gonna happen and there's literally nothing I can do about it.”

Her tensions have since eased and now Billiter is looking forward to watching with fellow viewers and seeing all the creations each disruptor conjured up.

“I love getting to see what other people create in their weird ways, you don't get to usually see that in shows,” she said. “I can't wait to see everyone's episode because everyone is so talented and does crazy stuff that I could never even fathom.”

E!’s “OMG Fashun” premiers at 9:30 p.m. on May 6. To keep up with Billiter and her designs, follow her on Instagram @Breeoriginaldesigns or visit her website www.breeoriginal.com/.
