Barbra Streisand Says She Only ‘Kind Of’ Remembers Sleeping With This Hollywood Legend

Barbra Streisand has tried putting the pieces together to recall her alleged hook up with one of the most famous stars of 1960s Hollywood but she just can’t confirm whether it happened for sure. The talented singer and actress is spilling all the details on her life and past loves in her new memoir My Name Is Barbra.

In the book, the 81-year-old EGOT winner reflects on a recent phone conversation with Beatty and asks herself, “Did I sleep with Warren?” The question is apparently something Streisand and the Bonnie and Clyde actor, 86, have been debating for quite some time. “I kind of remember. I guess I did. Probably once,” Streisand now concludes. Her bombshell memoir was released on November 7 and even contains details about Streisand’s flirtatious interactions with a former president and while her mention of her alleged fling with Beatty was brief, another star had a more detailed account of what may or may not have happened.

According to CBS News, Streisand once labeled Beatty “one of my flings” in a 1970s interview with Playboy yet the debate about whether or not they had ever had a fling flipped once again in Kathy Griffin‘s 2016 compendium Celebrity Run-ins. The comedian claims she witnessed the two stars share their conflicting accounts of the mythical hook up when she attended Jane Fonda‘s 75th birthday party in 2012.
“Barbra Streisand’s presence alone conjures three thoughts immediately: She is unapproachable, she’s royalty to me, and yet, when I looked at her, she is a real person. I almost fainted when she sat her real-person ass down at my table,” Griffin writes, according to an excerpt published in The Hollywood Reporter. “Then Warren Beatty strolled up looking like the movie star that he is,” she continues. “He was wearing jeans and a shirt as if he had just gotten off of the set of Shampoo, albeit 30 years later but just as gorgeous, still rocking the feathered hair.”
“He asked, ‘What’s going on at this table?’ I said, ‘Barbra’s rehashing that story about how you always claim to have hooked up in the back of a car.’ Beatty took the bait. ‘I thought we did.’ Barbra started shaking her head. ‘Warren, I’m not going to have this fight with you again. We nev-ah hooked up.’ ‘Noooo, Barbra, I think we did,’ Beatty said. ‘We were coming back from that little club in the Catskills.'”
“I realized these two have probably known each other since the early ‘60s,” the comic continues. “‘There was a time when you got a little handsy in the backseat,’ he said. Streisand’s casually eating, adding little ‘No, Warren’s.” In Griffin’s account, the two stars fail to come to a conclusion before Sean Penn shows up and the conversation ceases.
Beatty’s reputation as a womanizer is well-documented and a biographer even alleged that the actor had been with 12,775 women in his lifetime — a claim he denied in 2016, saying: “Think about it, sleeping with 12,775 people. That would mean not just that there were multiple people a day, but that there was no repetition.”
