Barbra Streisand Will Narrate the Audiobook for Her New Memoir, “My Name Is Barbra”

The legendary singer and actress' long-awaited memoir publishes on Nov. 7

Barbra Streisand is once again using her voice.

The legendary singer and actress, 81, has announced that she will be narrating the audiobook for her forthcoming memoir, My Name Is Barbra. 

“Barbra Streisand is a living legend, a woman who in a career spanning six decades has excelled in every area of entertainment,” says audiobook producer Penguin Random House Audio in a statement shared with PEOPLE. “And this engrossing and delightful audiobook will be eagerly welcomed by her millions of fans.”

The long-awaited memoir from the EGOT winner will detail Streisand’s expansive career on the screen and stage, and her journey toward stardom. Streisand writes of her childhood in New York and her struggles to become an actress, per the book's description, where she worked in nightclubs until she landed the role of Fanny Brice in the original Broadway production of Funny Girl.

Streisand also details the stories behind recording many of her celebrated albums, making the movie Yentl (whose 40th anniversary deluxe soundtrack was released on Oct. 27), and her friendships with celebrities like Marlon Brando. She also writes of her marriage to actor James Brolin.

Penguin Random House Audio also shares that the audiobook release will feature exclusive content, including dozens of musical excerpts from Streisand’s Broadway shows, albums and movies. Some of the songs included are “The Way We Were,” “Evergreen” and “Woman in Love,” which was written by Bee Gees members Barry and Robin Gibb for her Platinum-selling album Guilty. Streisand also “added more color and background to her stories,” the statement reads, which resulted in over 50 additional adlibs.

Late night talk show host Stephen Colbert will also appear on the audiobook, where he will introduce the book and read the end credits.

Penguin Random House Audio reports that the audiobook, at 48 hours long, is the longest audiobook that the publisher has ever produced, and that it’s “a true testament to Barbra’s incredible life and career.”

My Name Is Barbra publishes from Viking on Nov. 7.
