While Barbie is now available to stream, it's also still in theaters — and for those who want an even more out-of-the-box experience, the movie will be released in IMAX theaters for a one-week limited engagement beginning Sept. 22. This version of Barbie will include brand-new footage chosen by director Gerwig, 40.

In a statement released last month, the filmmaker said that audience enthusiasm for Barbie around the globe since its release in July "has been overwhelming, humbling, and deeply moving."

"So many Barbie fans went on this journey with us, and we can’t thank them enough for supporting the film and sharing their Barbie experience in theaters, across social media, and out in the world," Gerwig said.

"We made Barbie for the big screen, so it’s an even bigger thrill to be able to bring it to IMAX, the biggest screen of all," she added. "And as a special thanks to Barbie fans, we’re excited to share a little bit more of our cast and crew’s incredible work by adding special new footage we hope audiences will enjoy.”

Ahead of the blockbuster film's debut on digital, Warner Bros. Pictures shared a behind-the-scenes clip exclusively with PEOPLE, in which Gerwig, Robbie, 33, Gosling, 42, and costume designer Jacqueline Durran discuss the process behind the film's costumes.

"I think rule 1 of Barbie Land is you just always have the right outfit on," Gerwig says, while Durran adds, “It’s quite difficult to know how to approach this because the character is Barbie, and Barbie can be anything. She can represent any person, any profession, anything.”

The clip features footage of Durran working with Gerwig and the movie's ensemble cast of Barbies in Barbie Land, as well as various sketches of what became the characters' final costumes in the movie.

“Especially in this film, costumes are everything," Gosling says in the clip. "Unless you’re dressed for it, you’re not doing it. There’s a meme out right now that says ‘the costume designer for Barbie deserves a free pass to heaven.’ I agree.”
