Be like Barbie with this hot pink box that Iowa company The Good Co. DSM rents out
An Iowa company created a rentable life-sized Barbie box.
The buzzy "Barbie" movie starring Margot Robbie came out July 20 and Des Moines-based event rental company The Good Co. DSM created a life-sized Barbie box to celebrate.
"I make it my mission to help make parties better in Des Moines," The Good Co. DSM owner Katie Allgood, 31, said.
Katie's husband Eli, who works full time in finance, builds all of her rentals. It took him two days in early June to complete the Barbie box that rents for $250 per day.
When the Allgoods saw that the "Barbie" movie would be a trend among moviegoers in the metro, they thought about bringing a rental to the area. The local brand photography business Sage Collective asked the company to create the box.
The Barbie box is available for any Iowan to rent.

The Barbie box was originally painted hot pink but is customizable. The box measures 2 feet and 9 inches wide, two feet wide, and 6.5 feet tall.
Allgood fondly recalls Barbie's role in her childhood, growing up with two older sisters.
"I'm the youngest of three girls so I grew up playing with Barbie dolls," Allgood said.
For Allgood, it's all about cherishing the nostalgia and magic created from a much-anticipated movie.
"We're all about anything worth celebrating."
