Barbara Bush Blasts a Certain Unnamed Candidate (Ahem, Donald Trump) But Says She Won't Get in a 'Spitting Match' with Him

Barbara Bush is not going to name any names but there's a certain boastful presidential candidate whose manners she does not approve of.

In a joint interview with son Jeb Bush on CBS This Morning on Friday, the former First Lady touted the GOP hopeful's leadership and kindness, saying, "He is so polite. We brought him up that way."

"He does not brag like some people we know," she added.

When Norah O'Donnell asked Barbara whom she was referring to she replied, "I can't remember," and added that she's "not getting in a spitting match with (him because) he can spit further than I can."

It's likely the former First Lady was talking about Donald Trump, who has mercilessly mocked her son on the campaign trail.

Without mentioning Trump's name, Barbara went on to reference the billionaire businessman's feud with Fox News' Megyn Kelly – "Unbelievable. I don't know how women can vote for someone who said what he said about Megyn Kelly," she said – and his endorsement from Russian President Vladimir Putin: "Putin endorsed him, for heaven's sake. Putin, the killer, Putin. That is an endorsement you don't want."

After coming in sixth with just 2.8 percent of the vote at the Iowa caucuses, Bush has turned to his mom for a boost.

The mother and son duo held a town hall in Derry, New Hampshire, Thursday night, where Barbara praised her son as the "nicest, wisest, most caring, loyal, disciplined" man. But "not by me!" she added to laughter.

"He's not a bragger," she continued. "We don't allow that."
