Barbara Boxer Tells Bill Maher She’s ‘Leaning’ Toward Legalizing Weed (Video)

“Real Time With Bill Maher” welcomed California Senator Barbara Boxer to his show on Friday night and the weed enthusiast immediately called her out for not defending Prop 19, a failed California state ballot initiative in 2010 that would have legalized marijuana-related activities in the state.

Maher then nudged Boxer on the issue, saying it’s been six years.

“Well, I’m actually going to surprise you. I’m leaning in favor [of legalizing marijuana]. Leaning,” Boxer said before explaining that she’s concerned about one particular issue.

“From Colorado and Washington State, they’ve seen fatalities go up. Driver fatalities go up,” said Boxer, who will leave the Senate in January after serving four terms.

Maher responded, “Most of the driver fatalities are from alcohol.”

Maher later joked that he drives better when he’s stoned but it appears that Boxer is open to a conversation about ways to prevent weed-caused car accidents, such as breathalyzers.
