This week in Springfield-area restaurant news: A new bar for downtown and a new Whataburger.

New bar and grill to open in downtown Springfield

The Vault Bar and Grill, 400 South Ave., plans on opening in late October. The restaurant is in the building that formerly housed Riad, which closed last September.

The Vault is "currently shooting for (October) 25 but no later than (October) 27," said owner Heather Hinkey. Hinkey also owns Wild Orange Boutique in Branson.

According to its Facebook page, in addition to drinks, the Vault will offer appetizers, sandwiches and burgers, and pasta.

Another Whataburger opens in Springfield

The third Whataburger in Springfield, 401 N. Eastgate Ave., is now open. Both the dining room and drive-thru of this location are open 24 hours. Curbside pickup and delivery are not yet available, according to the Whataburger website.

Springfield has two other Whataburgers: 3880 W. Sunshine St. and 2337 N. Glenstone Ave.
