Banijay Group Hires Peter Langenberg As COO

TV production powerhouse Banijay Group has appointed former Warner Bros International TV exec Peter Langenberg as its new COO. It marks the first time the company, which is behind shows such as Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Wolf Hall, has had a COO since it finalized its merger with Zodiak Media in February this year.

Based in London and Paris, Langenberg will have direct responsibility for Banijay Group’s companies across the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Russia and India. The company’s CEO Marco Bassetti has tasked Langenberg with a particular focus on “building synergies at group level and increasing development opportunities.”

At Warner Bros, Langenberg was in charge of business management of international TV properties. He also spent 10 years at Endemol, before it became Endemol Shine Group, where he held roles such as group exec director of operations, exec director of licensing and exec producer of entertainment for Endemol Netherlands.

“Peter has an extremely strong track record in determining and expanding strategic opportunities across a wide-ranging group of companies and we are sure that his expertise and enthusiasm for the content business will take our growing federation of creative companies to the next level,” said Bassetti.

Langenberg said: “I believe that Banijay, certainly after the recent merger with Zodiak, is just at the beginning of taking advantage of growth opportunities and I am looking forward to forstering synergies within the group, contributing to further expansion and being part of this exciting journey.”

Last month, Banjiay hired Lagardere Studios’ former CEO Takis Candilis as its head of scripted. Ron Henwood stepped down as CEO for the UK, Netherlands and Belgium at Zodiak following the completion of the merger. The Banijay-Zodiak merger in February created the world’s biggest indie TV production outfit, spanning across more than 18 territories.
